Attempted to order pizza at their 6th area store. Arrived to pick up and they said they were out of sauce! My receipt was there and ready...but no sauce and no pizza. No apology either. I guess no one was intelligent enough to go to the grocery store next store and buy some. Oh well.
Every now and then this place has real espresso, even decaf, and you get a cup of coffee worth the price you pay. Then like this week, they have no stock and slip in local beans with Arab spices, without telling you, you pay 4jd for your iced latte and leave fairly disappointed.
Great falafel sandwiches on shrak, pita, or french bread! Not much room to sit and not a great atmosphere, but great sandwiches! A welcome addition to downtown Aqaba. Definitely recommend the shrak bread.
King's is all about the steak! A delicious place and nice atmosphere. Great staff. Our sides have consistently been only okay - often a bit salty - but the steak is amazing.
Also - for a steakhouse - King's has some amazing desserts - the molten cake is amazing - it came with fresh raspberries - amazing.
Don't forget to grab a tin of cookies downstairs on your way out.
Finally - a clean nice place with AC to take the family for hummos and falafel. Its all about the bread!
Wish there was more parking and will they weren't closed from 1-7pm everyday - but nonetheless - we are happy they are here!
Best Gelato in Aqaba. May makes it in her little factory around the corner. Nice staff, fresh cones, inexpensive prices. I like the coffee flavored gelato in a cone. We go just for the Gelato or sit and have some salad pizza and then follow it up with the good stuff.
Huge selection of International stuff. They have most of the staples you want, and then the extras. Whether you are trying to eat healthy or need a treat from abroad, it is the best place to go. Lost of American beverages, cereals, European Chocolates, and health foods.
Most importantly - the only place in town I've found Cheez-it crackers!
Glad we have donuts in Aqaba now! They are baked fresh daily. They have a branch out near the airport, next to PC Zone, and at times you'll find them at Souk by the Sea.
The coffee isn't much to celebrate, but the branch next to PC Zone is steps from Gloria Jeans, a decent combo. Taking a dozen donuts to work in the morning never got anyone fired either.....
Unless it is life threatening, head to Amman. I've visited friends in here and it is rough. I hope the new Islamic and University hospitals are finished soon. From the perspective of an Ex-pat living in Aqaba, our biggest concern is the condition and quality of the hospitals.
This used to be a favorite spot, but the prices doubled over night. My wife and I still go regularly, but at times the beautiful ambiance is overshadowed by the sewer smell. Still, the pastries are always fresh, the coffee is good and you can grab a loaf of fresh multi-grain bread for cheap to take home.
People go crazy for this place. Chinese goods for cheap in Aqaba. The selection is huge - this is for sure. Tour buses stop here in Friday and Saturday (not exactly my idea of a fun day in Aqaba, but - whatever) Becareful...many items, if you can actually get the price tag off, won't last very long - especially in the toy and tool departments. Still, you can find alot and for paper and plastic good, as well as office supplies. I guess my wanting to see the local economy grow and produce goods for themselves and for export makes going here often a conflict of interests....but hey - whatever works.
Good selection of watches - my wife got me a great watch for Christmas here. They also repair and service watches. Gift wrapping is available and because they are a chain that purchases in bulk their sales can be quite good.
These are some great products, all made from recycled materials! Unfortunately their store is closed as they search for a larger venue. You can still pick up their goods at Souk by the Sea and Souk JARA or at their workshop housed within the Life Center in Mahduud.
You won't find a place with better atmosphere in Aqaba. Whether you sit in or out, the place is great. Great staff. The food is all impressive, outside of the burgers, especially the salads. The Salmon Ravioli is a favorite, as is the Fettuccine Gorgonzola. The steaks are good and the wine list is solid....
This Italian Restaurant also houses a sushi bar, and the sushi is quite good.
Outside of the fact that their play list always seems to include too much Enrique Iglesis, there is not much to complain about with Romero's.
Its McDonald's you know you shouldn't go....but you do - and it is good. It's being remodeled currently. With few ice cream options in town - the McFlurry always comes through. It also has the only indoor, air conditioned Play Place in the city - and since Aqaba gets pretty warm in the summer - this is a big plus.
Addicted.....This place is amazing - We eat here once or twice a week. The food is incredible, especially for the price. The Greek Salad is a must, the mutabbul is amazing, and my kids go crazy for the Puri bread. Still, this place is all about the chicken. Every chicken dish is amazing. There is a reason the place is always busy.
One interesting thing - go in and ask for your check and notice they will add it up and calculate the tax without a calculator faster than most math professors could. I don't know why that is refreshing to me when most dukans pull the calculator out when you buy a half JD soda and hand them a dinar!
I wish the outside seating a Tikka was better - the alley seating enjoys a good number of cats and fans from neighboring Floka. Zenga, Zenga.
Great place in the Gateway complex. Go in the main doors of the Gateway and head up the stairs that circle the lighthouse. Great Fish & Chips - good wings - decent Ceasar Salad. Good prices - good service. This is a great place to sit outside with views of the sea and the Ayla ruins.
