I finally made it to the Lettuce and the Fish in a springy sunny day,, so my first time there was on the terrace, the location is nice and casual for a quick bit.
I heard about their refreshing salads but haven't tried those when i was there although I've seen one steak/salad bowl being served to the table next to me which looked absolutely yummy!
anyway, i started my meal with Miso soup which was not my favorite to be honest, something was off with the consistency, it was salty even for me (i add lots of salt to my food). after that i got the Kani salad, this one was really good, the mayo in the salad was just perfect (not too creamy).. the salad was beautifully served as well.
as for the main course, I could not resist but order Sushi. i was in the mood for some standard, fresh rolls.. nothing fancy and back to basics! got the traditional salmon, Tuna and spicy roll (they call it differently) which were amazing! honestly i think this place got the sushi down no question.. the rice was fresh and cooked right,,
I was disappointed however to know that the Zen hour (30% off from 4-7 was cancelled) they have replaced that offer it seems with a full 2 day open bar sushi for fixed price (haven't tried that yet, I wanna see if quality would be affected with the open sushi days tue and fri)
would also recommend replacing the pickled ginger with fresh ones for a fresh sharp taste.. pricing was reasonable, not overly priced and the waiter/service was pleasant!
a great place for a fresh bite :)
Okay, so this place is a typical casual sport bar that you could simply go to even at noon without feeling that naa this should be a place to go at night.. you could sit to the bar or one of the sporty other booths or even the stools overseeing Amman.. this place is fantastic for a quick drink and yes BURGERS! I had aspen burgers when i went there and they were heavenly! bun was fresh, meat was juicy and perfectly spiced. the bartender offered us some peanuts while we were waiting for the burgers and he simply asked us to throw the peanut shells on the floor! yes it is this kind of place! just relax and enjooooy..
would def recommend this place!
I love going to this place on Thursdays, they arrange for salsa night dances with a live band starting 9 pm every Thursday.. you'll see some professional dancers on the dance floor and other amateur ones as well (you won't be intimidated to try some moves, they have a pretty roomy dance floor).
in summer time, you can take the side lounge and sit there to enjoy the waterfalls in the background or even sit inside in the booths, dinning tables or the bar!
the atmosphere is amazing, as if you just stepped into a local party in south america.. however, the place would not be in a party mood in mid week,I would recommend trying it out in the weekend!
food is good, a bit pricy though! the waiters are old and are not quick as well
very casual, down to earth Bistro, they got some island tables that are perfect for groups with a good collection of quick food variety.. I had some nachos and fries which were good actually!
great place to be even on Thursdays, not over crowded and would definitely recommend it for mid week outings,,
I love this place! an Out Of the Box Experience by all means! the moment you actually touch the glass door to enter (it opens upon placing your palm on it) to taking the downstairs until you are seated on a cute little table or even on the bar,, I promise you that you'll enjoy it all.. in winter they have a fireplace wall providing an amazing ambiance to the place! I usually go for sushi open night on saturdays, the plan would usually to meet at 7 catching the last hour of the happy hour then at 8 the sushi is served (which is perfect!)
sushi corner would have a good variety of rolls, the original rolls of salmon, tuna, spicy tuna/salmon in addition to the sashimi, some other spicy stuff are provided there and they keep changing the types of sushi every sushi night to keep the excitement going! the waiter keeps the buffet fresh and full for the 2 hour sushi night (8-10). I heard that the burgers there are amazing, did not try those yet but will definitely do very soon!
would definitely recommend this place, the menu is rich, the atmosphere is fabulous and you could order food from Trattoria (the Italian place upstairs), Vinaigrette (sushi) all in one!!
We were looking for a Chinese restaurant open by noon, so we stumbled upon this place.. to be fair the place looked like a nice, cozy and quiet restaurant from the outside.. so okay we thought we should give it a shot and try it since it was the only place open that early anyway.
Once you get there, you feel as if you are in your grandparents house or something, the furniture and the setting is really old, decoration is colorful and make you immediately nostalgic, but you know I would not take this against the place since it had its own character,,
the smell of food was all over the place, seriously its like coming home when your mom is cooking.. anyway we ordered chicken corn soup which was tasteless and the corn was grounded so no would not recommend that (looked like baby food). I had to put so much salt and soy sauce in my soup to convince myself that it has some kind of taste in it.
after that we got the shredded beef with green pepper, sizzling beef with vegies and fried rice.
the regular shredded beef was so mild that i almost forgot i was having chines!! tasted like hospital food :( the sizzling beef tasted better but still not restaurant quality (would be fine if you were trying to cook chines at home but not for a chines restaurant), the meat looked unattractive at all, chewy and hard to cut..
not satisfied with the setting or the food and I don't think i will be coming back again to this place. the restaurant need major changes to compete against the many restaurants in Shmeisani area!
Whenever i think of Sushi, Yoshi will be the first place coming to my mind.. once you step into this place you could feel a whole new atmosphere that puts you in the mood for sushi goodies.. last time I went there, we had miso soup which had the right consistency and spices, followed by Kani salad refreshing like always and the yummy fried beef wantons. the wantons were absolutely tasty but I would not recommend having them if you are planning on eating sushi right after or if you are on a hurry. the fried wantons can make you full real fast,, so take it easy with those.
after the appetizers, we had the love boat, 21 pieces of sushi, I could not remember all of them but one had too much green onion that ruined its taste, the others were fine but with lots of sharp ingredients and flavors,, not that i am against it but I think it would be better to mix artsy rolls with classic mild ones within the sushi boat in order to appreciate the fancy ones.
plus i think it would be a good idea to have more varieties of boats with more choices for different group sizes,, they currently offer one package of 21 piece love boat, 28 kimono and 44 tsunami. allowing for pick and choose within the same boat range would lessen the confusion when ordering!
overall, the place is beautiful, I will insist on the fireplace seat next time i would go there ;) , decoration is classy and yes the music was great as well!
would definitely go there again! love the place :)
This review is not exactly for the bakery, its for the Bifrost Cafe upstairs. We went there hoping for a cozy place for some pastry and Pizzas (As included in the menu of the Facebook page), reserved a table for a birthday party and some cakes. to our surprise we get there no table is available yet and no Pizzas :( we sat at the bar (which is really cute) waiting for our table, didn't mind it much since the bartender was very entertaining (Adel I believe). our bartender of the night was very flexible, we replaced the pizza with a cheese platter, olive bread, veggies and some dips which totally saved the evening plus the birthday cake (too sweet not very impressive btw). so yes the flexibility in building our own menu was good!! the location is great but seriously the menu needs to be enhanced especially for a late night gatherings,, more drink types to be served.. over all the place is unique, it has character and real potential.. not cheap though,,i think with the right food variety this place can be a good easy going spot in Rainbow street,, so good luck!
Shake Shack in Dubai! yes could not resist going there and do the comparison between the burgers i had in Shake Shack NY to the newly opened branch in Dubai. I ordered a cheese burger, regular fries and yes the classic hotdog sandwich. the burger was fantastic, the right amount of juice and seasoning complemented by the perfect fresh bun! as for the hotdogs,, that taste just took me back to the taste of the famous NY hotdogs! it cannot get any better :)
seriously, if you are in dubai or there for a visit, you need to check out Shake Shack!!! best burger place
A great casual place for a quick hotdog sandwish, liked the idea however I think they should consider offering two sizes of meat, having the current size can be too meaty for a sandwish. also maybe they should include more sauces to the menu (the sweet onion sauce is a main ingrediant in hotdogs and is currently unavailable) having the option to add more spices to the the meat itself can be brilliant for a sharp taste as well. bread was fresh but freezing cold! warm that up a bit :)
overall, it's really a great idea! Chapeau :)
