  • Review by Deb of Meem Gallery
I went to look at their exhibition on Art In Iraq Today. Situated in an industrial area it was not an impressive entrance. However they have accomplished a pleasant atmosphere inside the gallery.
There were only 15 pieces of art on display and the majority were extremely large and would not fit in a regular home. As a westerner I did not know any of the artists so they may well have been very famous. I have to say however I was not so impressed with the art. There was only 1 painting that I liked and it was over 80,000 Dhs. I am not sure what their target market is but I don't imagine there is many who would have this art in their home. I will go back to look at future exhibitions and hope to update my review to a more positive one.
  • Review by Deb of Kid's Theatre Works
Looking for something fun and different for the kids to do? Kids Theatre Works offers several programs. They have Musical Theatre, Acting Workshops and more. Children learn self confidence, how to work with others as a team and so much more. My children will be performing on stage for the very first time and instead of being nervous and scared, KTW has encouraged them so that they are now excited and eager to perform.
I am very happy with KTW and would not hesitate in recommending their programs for your children.
  • Review by Deb of Dubai herbal and treatment center
    8 years ago
The center offers integrated complementary & alternative medicine, allopathic treatment and lifestyle programs.
Dr Maria works along side a Chinese medical Doctor to bring Chinese herbs into medical treatments to complement recognized modern medicine. The Center is very professional as was all the staff. They also have a qualified acupuncturist on staff. If you don't like needles they also offer laser acupuncture. Completely painless and very relaxing. Other services they offer are Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ozone Therapy, Homoeopathy, Chiropractic, Colon Hydro Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Rehabilitation,Psychology and Beauty Therapy. I was a skeptic but was very impressed with this alternative therapy center. I would highly recommend you give it ago if you are not feeling yourself and need a boost. www.dubaihtc.com

    One word....DEGUSTATION!
Degustation means appreciative tasting of various foods. Usually in small portions of the chefs specialty dishes. Around 8 courses that can take up to 4 hours to complete. We had the degustation with wine, so every dish is matched perfectly with a specific wine. During this amazing dining experience the waiter explained in detail the wine, where it is from and the flavor characteristics. It was incredible how they balanced the flavors of the food with the wine. Simply stunning. A very modern feel to the restaurants decor with an amazingly lit ceiling. It has a great mood, it's vibrant and happy but at the same time warm and relaxing. Children are welcome for lunch or dinner. The kids menu is perfect. Real food that kids will eat and not a chicken nugget in sight. In fact so delicious my son had two main courses and skipped desert!! The Burj Al Arab has taken service to another world and this restaurant is their pinnacle of service in my opinion. How the waiters knew, what they knew, about food and wine was impressive. Al Muntaha needs to be on everyone's bucket list!
  • Review by Deb of Al Mahara
Wow wow wow. There is really no other word to describe it. If you want ambience you can't find better than Al Mahara. The aquarium is amazing and so beautiful. Soft lighting and peaceful music make you forget you are in the busy city of Dubai. Although they could have fit many more tables into the restaurant they did not. Instead left plenty of room between tables. The tables were a great size big enough that you didn't have to move your glass every time they brought something to the table like so many other restaurants.
We ordered a seafood platter that serves two. The serving was very generous and included, fish, salmon, prawns, oysters, crab, lobster and scollops. It was all cooked to perfection. We took our 2 children as we went for lunch. The children's menu was amazing. Not just seafood but chicken, pasta, lamb etc. The quality of the kids meals were better than some other restaurants I have eaten at. They each received a lovely book explaining the fish in the aquarium which they could bring home as a memento. The waiters were just brilliant. They were well informed and could answer any question we had about the menu. Al Mahara was awesome and I would highly recommend it for a romantic dinner or a special family lunch. Well worth every cent.

Have you ever looked a menu and thought, "I wish I could just have desert?". Sugar Daddy's is the place for you.
There is great selection of different flavors. From red velvet to coffee or mint, there is so much to choose from. The cakes are soft and moist, the frosting is smooth and sweet. The staff are always happy and attentive. It's a lovely bright happy place to sit with the kids. One thing I have never seen before is a cup-cake-shake! yes, that's right a cupcake in a milkshake. Sounds bizarre? Well it is so so delicious. You have to taste it to believe it. Of all cup cake shops Sugar Daddy's is my choice every time.
  • Review by Deb of Cafe Ceramique

What a fantastic concept. A pleasant cafe with quality food and an art studio! Select your piece of fired ceramic and then paint it. I love the fact they have pieces unique to Dubai. You can paint the Burg Al Arab or the Burg Khalifa. As a family we painted a big dinner plate for Grandma back home and she loved it. I have even seen plates with baby's foot prints on. how cute!
After painting your creation it usually takes 7-10 days and your completed masterpiece is ready for collection. It always amazes me how fab they look. We always have fun there. If you are looking for something different to do give Cafe Ceramiqe a go. At the front of the cafe there is a table with uncollected pieces that are available for purchase, however because they have already been payed for, Cafe Ceramique donate all the proceeds from these items to local charities. How Fantastic. I love to see a business giving back to the community. Two thumbs up!!
  • Review by Deb of Dunes Hotel Apartments Barsha
    9 years ago
What a Great hotel apartment. Full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and so much more. I could not believe how BIG the apartment was. It was more like a house. Rooms cleaned everyday. Only 4 apartments per floor.
When we moved to Dubai we bought our 2 cats this was the only hotel apartment we could stay with them. We stayed for 3 weeks and it was very comfortable. Staff at front desk were very helpful and friendly. They always helped bring shopping up to the room. unfortunately there was no restaurant but they did allow food delivery from outside. Swimming pool was on the roof and very hot during the summer day but in the evening it was lovely. If you are on a budget but don't want to compromise I would recommend Dunes. Not to mention that it is walking distance to Mall of the Emirates.
  • Review by Deb of Spinneys
I felt compelled to write a review on Spinneys Motorcity after having a terrible cut of meat. However it was NOT from Spinneys. I have always bought my fresh produce from Spinneys and it has always been of a high standard. Unfortunately I was short on time and purchase my meat from another store and it was terrible. Spinneys' meat is always fresh and delicious.
The staff is always friendly and more than happy to help. I have heard that it is more expensive than other grocery stores in Dubai, but I am happy to pay the extra for the clean pleasant environment to do the shopping. It is usually quiet too and rarely have to line up at a checkout. MMI and Starbucks is also in the same complex so everyone in the family is happy.
  • Review by Deb of Kaya Skin Clinic
Do yourself a favor and book an appointment at kaya skin clinic. Kaya is run by professional dermatologists and qualified skin technicians. Staff are very friendly and professional. They offer packages to have your skin looking beautiful and glowing. After only 3 treatments people are commenting they notice a difference, and I didn't even tell them I was having anything done. Considering the the ridiculous cost of over the counter skin creams. Kaya is brilliant value for money. The don't expect you to expensive products but educate you on skin creams that work and are much cheaper.
I highly recommend Kaya for skin treatments.
  • Review by Deb of Intercoil International Co
    9 years ago
I have had the top of the range intercoil bed for 1 year. It is the WORST bed I have ever slept on. both the mattress and the pillow top have significant sagging. Intercoil has taken the pillow to 'repair' it. However it is clear that this company has NO quality control testing. I have spoken to several people who also own an intercoil mattress and they are also very DISAPPOINTED with the quality of their bed. I have lost all confidence in this company and do not believe that 'repairing' the pillow top will alter the quality of sleep I get on this mattress. I have requested my money back but was told NO. I also then requested to UPGRADE to a different mattress ,pay the difference and was also told NO. The only thing that they will do is 'repair' the pillow top. I will NEVER recommend Intecoil to anyone. The customer service which is directed by upper management is very inflexible and will ultimately lead to very disappointed customers. There is no way this LOCAL company can ever compete on the international market.
  • Review by Deb of RAW Coffee Company
Seriously if you want the BEST coffee in dubai you must go to Raw. Located in the Dubai Garden Centre S.Z. rd. They roast their own beans on site. The staff are more than happy to talk you through their varieties and the characteristics of the coffees. You can buy beans or they will grind it for you. They will even Deliver beans to your home or office. DELICIOUS!
  • Review by Deb of Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre
    9 years ago
In my opinion this is a hidden gem in Dubai. On the top floor of the Mall of the Emirates DUCTAC is wonderful. Not only the dramatic productions that they put on, but the numerous art classes are never ending! I have personally taken three different classes. It was fun and educational. All the teacher are well trained and everyone is very friendly. If you have ever wanted to give 'it a go' I highly recommend taking a class at DUCTAC. You will be surprised.
some examples of classes they run are, silver jewelry making, jewelry design, Painting, photography, pottery, pottery on the wheel, Arabic calligraphy and that's all I remember off the top of my head.
  • Review by Deb of Hofbrauhaus
I have been to the Hofbrauhaus several times and LOVE it. It truly is a german pub/restaurant. They serve all the traditional beers in a variety of sizes. You can even purchase your own personalized glass, which will be stored there until your next return.
It has always been spotlessly clean. The staff are super friendly and very attentive. There is a lot of pork on the menu but they do have other meats too. We have always taken and taxi and it has never been difficult to get one at the end of the night. I highly recommend the hofbrauhaus. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is very traditional. It was worth every dirham.
  • Review by Deb of SEGA Republic
Hidden away in Dubai Mall Sega Republic is fun for the whole family. I was dragged in by my kids and I had a great time. the rides are fantastic for an indoor theme park. It is the first place I have actually ever won a toy from a grab machine! the quality of the soft toys are great. not like the crappy ones filled with beads. The staff are great and really make the place more fun, they laugh and joke. It is great value for money and the kids had to drag ME out! What a fun place.

It is brilliant. The variety of food is outstanding. The staff are so attentive. The layout is awesome. They even have private dinning rooms to add that extra wow factor. Live cooking stations are fantastic my favorite is the tepenyaki! so delicious. My husbands favorite is the cheese and port room. The deserts are endless. anything you can think of. The sticky date pudding is to die for. Do yourself and your friends a favor. Go! you will not regret it.
  • Review by Deb of Yas Island Rotana Hotel
    9 years ago
I have a confession to make. I did not want to stay at this hotel! BUT I did and VERY surprised. What stands out most was how comfortable the bed was. wow, it was awesome. I also love a great shower and the water pressure and temperature was brilliant. No fluctuations!
Staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Even the hotel manager was in the lobby asking people if everything was ok and if we needed anything. wow! The steak restaurant was delicious even the kids loved it. Breakfast was a bit hectic but the food was fresh and hot. It was brilliant value for money. I have paid a lot more for much less. I would recommend this hotel for couples or families. There was nothing negative about our stay.
  • Review by Deb of The One Café
I went to the One Cafe for a friends birthday luncheon. It was brilliant. The food was delicious, and the service was great. I loved the fact that every table was different and most available for sale in the store. They have gone out of their way to make the menu different for every other cafe. It was unique and the atmosphere lovely. I will go again.
  • Review by Deb of Ferrari World
We went to Ferrari world during Ramadan. It was very quiet. Which for a theme park is good. We did not have to line up for any of the rides. Restaurants were discretely open, which was very nice. Unfortunately 2 of the main rides were not open. that was disappointing. However they gave us free tickets to come back when the rides were working. How amazing. I have never ever had that happen before. That was incredible. I was surprised at how many rides there were for every member of the family. Small kiddy rides to screaming roller coasters. To see the collection of Ferraris on display was brilliant. We are looking forward to going again.

If you love cars, go to Yas Hotel. If you love comfort, go to Yas Hotel. If you love Yachts, go to Yas Hotel. If you love food, go to Yas Hotel. If you love golf, go to Yas Hotel. If you would love to have an amazing experience GO TO YAS HOTEL.
It is truly a memorable experience. It will be very difficult to compare any other hotel once you have stayed there. The modern design is so unique and no detail has been over looked. Even the staff uniforms are designed to complement the aesthetics of the hotel. I left my phone charger in the room. They called me and notified me that they will hold it until my next return. On my next visit 6 months later they delivered my left charger to my room. amazing service. Staff remembered us from our previous visit and were so friendly. It is a unique hotel that everyone should experience.
  • Review by Deb of Emirates Palace Hotel
    9 years ago
wow wow wow!! is probably the only way to describe Emirates Palace. From the moment you drive up the drive and the valet takes you car you feel like a star! The atmosphere is pure opulence. All the staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make you time there memorable. Be warned a small snack in the coffee shop is not small, it is a decadent delight. The cakes and coffees are out of the world. It's not just a hotel it's an experience. We will be back!
