I always buy some soaps either for myself or as gifts. I have bought bowls and mugs at CeraDisi and keep meaning to buy a basket at Green Creations. There is always something to look at or to buy.

A weekly Friday evening bazaar. Really the only of its kind in Aqaba where you can buy souvenirs that are locally made ( as opposed to many of the souvenir shops downtown that sell goods made in china!). The live music and performances are fun. A real family place with resident expats around and children playing. A good place to meet or catch up with others if you are living in Aqaba.

    Check out:

-The Ceradisi stand where they sell really pretty ceramic bowls, plates, and camels made by local women from Disi village.

-The poster stand where you can buy cool postcards. They also sometimes sell a book "Say it in Arabic" that is an easy to use guide to basic Arabic.

-Green Creations- funky jewelry by local women and made from recycled materials.

This is a weekly market that is run by World Associates - a non governmental Organization in Aqaba.

The idea of the Souk is similar to Jara market, both local artisans and organizations have a place where they come and put their handmade products on display for the tourists and visitors. Each week the Souk features an Artist from Jordan or abroad ... As a resident in Aqaba, I love to go by the Souk every Friday, meet locals and expats living in the city. I love to check out the Green Creation's booth where they make jewelry from recycled materials such as tin & magazines paper. Also CeraDisi is another great regular vendor at the Souk, where you can find ceramics products made by Bedouin women from the Disi village.

In a nutshell, this is a fun hang out on a lazy Friday afternoon where you can meet people and buy local.
