Bateel is a luxury date shop which is appealing to the eye because of the brightly lit shop, the neat and posh layout and the lip-smacking dates placed behind the glass of the front window. Their selection looks so appetising to the passing costumers, as it is Ramadan I went to Bateel to buy dates for my family and friends. They have fancy boxes for you to put your dates in as gifts and even if their for yourself.

The freshly made dates are displayed in sections depending on what you want: Filled, Rhutab or Tamr.

Choose the filling of your dates according to your heart demands. Their choice is roasted or caramelized nuts or exotic flavours such as Lemon, Orange and Ginger peel which give a great taste to the local fruits.

Next is the type of dates their are over 600 types of dates known to the world. Bateel has a extravagant choice ranging from Khidri which is similar to raisins; sweet and chewy and Kholas another type of famous date. Other types include Agwa, Barhi, Dekkini, Mactoumi, Sekki, Silaj and Dhawi Zaw.

Rhutab dates are my favourite the dates melt when you put them into your mouth, it's an unbeatable type of taste which you can not begin to explain.

Bateel also serve other delicacies such as Date biscuits, Date cookies, Sweets, Pasta and Honeys etc.

Over all Bateel gives you the best quality of dates with mouth watering tastes it's tremendous for your Ramadan table.

    Hope you all enjoy

I just asked another user this, but you also look like you know your dates! Can you help me distinguish between them? Names and types - llike what's sweet, what's processed, why is there one with 2 colours?? lol, that kind of thing. Thanks!

Sure! Their are different colored dates mainly due to the amount of natural sugars that are in the date, intense honey or the amount of carbohydrates. You can tell the differences between the dates by the glucose, fructose and sucrose. Their are different types of dates they go by Kimri which are unripe, khalal are big and crunchy, rutab are soft and ripe and tamr are ripe and sun dried, you can't say this countries dates are this color because it doesn't depend on the country it depends on seasoning and the type of seed you planted etc. Vitamin c is lost when the dates are drying. Hope this helped?:D

Thanks, that's genuinely helpful - I've also noticed they give tamr brand names like 'fakher' and 'm3asal' or something, I guess depending on the sweetness (?), but it just makes it sound like shisha hahaha

Not to sure about that as I've only been in the UAE for a year and a half but there's a thing called Al Fakhra which my muslim friends enjoy because their the really high quality ones which are inspected by people to make sure their of high standard so yes. Haha yes it does Sheesha goes well with dates :p but I'm glad I helped.

The best quality dates can be brought from Bateel, although there are other shops too, but this holy month comes once in an year, so there should be special dates for this special month, and there are so many varieties in dates, i.e with ot without chocolates and different kinds of dates <3 yummy :)
